Aortic Rupture in Friesian Horses - Dr. Catherine DeLesalle, DVM - PHYRSO Magazine
The subject of Aortic Rupture is not an uncommon one whenever Friesian horse owners get together. There are articles available that describe it and veterinarians who talk about it, but there is nothing like hearing about it from an owner who has gone through it. Tracey Venter set out to do just that - making a video to describe her journey with her beautiful 5 year old Friesian mare, "Ischka". Hear, in an owner's words, how "Ischka" was diagnosed, how the symptoms changed and progressed and how Tracey feels her mare continues to give back to this breed through her participation in the ongoing research centered on Aortic Rupture in the Friesian breed. "Ischka" is gone, with much sadness for those that knew her, but her contribution will never be forgotten.
